Pune holds the dubious distinction of having the second highest number of traffic violations in the State   It comes as no surprise to anyone driving on the city’s roads that after Mumbai, it’s Pune that has the highest number of traffic violations in the State. In 2011, the city traffic police collected a whopping Rs10.63 crore from offenders in 8.08 lakh cases of traffic rule violations.

PUNE: In a decision that is bound to raise many eyebrows, the Pune Municipal Corporation would spend a whopping Rs 7.27crore for rent-a-cycle scheme in the city.   Initially just 300 cycles would be offered on rent. The prevailing market price of a good quality bicycle is something around Rs 2500.   The opposition has described the deal as 'loot' by the ruling coalition of the taxpayers money.
