PUNE: The Commonwealth Games (CWG) organising committee chairman Suresh Kalmadi on Thursday refuted all allegations of misuse of funds for the CWG. “All the venues are ready,” he stated.   “I haven’t done anything wrong. My responsibility is only for the Rs 1,600 crore, which is the budget for the actual conduct of the game.

PUNE: The city finally got a taste of the mega sports event that New Delhi is going to host next month, as the Queen’s Baton Relay arrived in Pune on Thursday.   The baton relay is a part of the Commonwealth Games 2010 and got a rousing welcome in the city.   Prominent corporators and veteran sports personalities welcomed the baton, which came from Satara in the morning.

PUNE: With the Rain God smiling again for the past couple of days, the water level in dams rose significantly. The Khadakwasla grid, catering to the needs of the city and the neighbourhood, has filled to 89.25 per cent capacity by Thursday evening.   The city on Thursday had recorded 10.9 mm rainfall till 8.30 am and throughout the day received 4.7 mm rainfall.

MUMBAI : Investigators probing the February Pune terror blast case have found that training in bomb-making was imparted to the mastermind, Mirza Himayat Baig in Sri Lanka, top officials said Thursday.   Baig was given the training to assemble the bombs and trigger them in Colombo by Faiyaz Kagzi and other people, they said.
