PUNE: Four more persons died of Swine flu in city hospitals in the last three days, taking the overall toll to 279, health officials said today.

The city has recorded 68 H1N1 deaths since April one this year despite the stepped up preventive measures by the authorities. The latest victims who succumbed to the virus in different hospitals, included a six month pregnant woman, hospital sources said.

The civic and state health machinery has intensified screening for rising number of suspected cases of Swine flu with the onset of the monsoon with a renewed awareness campaign covering schools and colleges. Pune recorded its first H1N1 casualty on August 3 last year. The Maharashtra government has not issued any advisory to public so far on the desirability of various Swine flu vaccines introduced in market, health department sources said.
