BENGALURU: Controversial godman Nithyananda Swami had a restless night on the first day of police custody after which CID officials began interrogating him on his sexual exploits besides other irregularities committed at the Bidadi ashram near Bengaluru.
Nithyananda,brought by flight last night from Shimla where he was arrested on Wednesday, has been remanded to police custody till April 26.
The CID quizzed him on the contracts signed by his devotees to practice ‘tantrik sex’.
The CID, which is inquiring into criminal cases filed against him, seized the agreement forms during a raid on his ashram.
The contract said that “volunteers” would use “sexual energy for increased intimacy/spiritual connection, pleasure, harmony and freedom”. It also said that “activities” during the programme would include nudity and erotica.
The non-disclosure agreement that his followers were made to sign, prohibiting them from divulging details about the contract.
The agreement signed by devotees said "Volunteer understands that the program may involve the learning and practise of ancient tantric secrets associated with male and female ecstasy including use of sexual energy for increased intimacy/spiritual connection, pleasure, harmony and freedom"
Nityananda has prohibited volunteers from revealing the programme or naming him for it. Police have given Nithyananda special protection as locals have threatened to attack him for spoiling the image of sadhus and swamijis by his actions.
In fact, a protestor threw a chappal at Nithyananda after he came out of the Ramanagaram court which remanded him to police custody till monday.
Police said Nithyananda faced life threats and was being given round the clock protection..
Nithyananda, who was caught in a compromising position with actress Ranjitha, has denied charges of sexual acts.
