DAVID COLEMAN HEADLEY:

The Chicago resident, David Coleman Headley, 49, whose earlier name was Daood Gilani, has landed in the net of the FBI and is currently cooling heels in US. He had visited Pune several times and had stayed near the German Bakery. He has also surveyed the Osho Commune at Koregaon Park. Headley is considered to be one of the masterminds of the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks and the Lashker-e-Toiba secret agent had plans to carry out bombings in India as well as in Denmark, according to the Joint Terrorism Task Force of Chicago unit of FBI. Danyal Gilani, spokesman for the Prime Minister of Pakistan, Yousaf Raza Gillani, is Headley's half brother. Headley was arrested on October 3 last year at O’Hare International Airport before boarding a flight to Philadelphia, intending to travel on to Pakistan. He worked in Tardeo-based immigration facilitation agency, Immigrant Law Centre as a representatiove of US-based immigration firm First World Immigration Services which is owned by Tawahhur Rana, a Canadian national of Pakistani origin. Rana too had visited India, and Mumbai, three times.

RIZWAN DAWARE:

Rizwan Daware hails from Pune. He is the person who channelised funds for the July 11, 2006 serial train blasts in Mumbai and is on the Interpol watch list. Now based in Saudi Arabia, software engineer Rizwan Daware, is all set the face the heat with the police intensifying efforts to get him to India. Daware, who is in his thirties and a close friend of Lashkar-e-Toiba operative Faisal Shaikh. He was in touch with Azam Cheema alias Babaji, the Bahawalpur-based LeT commandar, who doubles up as an ISI operative. He was a resident of Premanand Park, Shivarkar Road, Vanawadi in Pune. It is also said that Cheema is also close to Zaki-ur-Rehman Lakhvi, the chief-of-operations of LeT, wanted by India. He was a member of SIMI.

SOHAIL SHAIKH:

Like Rizwan Daware, he too hails from Pune and is a wanted accused in the 7/11 train bombing case. Faisal came in contact with Daware when he was staying in Pune. He stayed in the Camp area before moving to Dubai and then to Saudi Arabia. When the police raided the Pune residence of Sohail, one passport having visa for Tehran was seized besides a photostat copy of Central-East Asia indicating route from India to Muzzafarabad in Pakistan via Tehran and 'jehadi' literature was seized. Investigations have also revealed that Sohail was detained for 15 days under section 151(3) of the CrPC by the Lashkar police station in 2003.

MOHAMMED FAISAL ATAUR REHMAN SHAIKH:

A key member of the 7/11 bombing team, he hails from Mumbai, but he managed to procure a passport from Pune. He went to Pakistan for undergoing training in the handling and use of arms and explosives firstly on 01.10.2001 and returned to India on 2911.2001 through Wagha border using Indian passport bearing No. B-5403385 issued on 06.06.2001 by RPO, Pune. During his second visit and in order to avoid detection, on 08.11.2003 Mohd Faisal Ataur Rehman Shaikh left Mumbai for Jeddah using the above passport. From Jeddah, he illegally entered Pakistan via Kisham Island, Iran, where he allegedly destroyed his Indian passport. During return, his mentors in Pakistan gave him a fake Pakistani passport on an assumed name Mohammed Akram, using which he returned to Jeddah. He is facing trial in the case.

ABDUL WAHID DIN MOHAMMED SHAIKH:

An accused in the 7/11 case, he hails from Chamda Galli at Nanapeth, Bhawanipeth Pune. He is in jail and facing trial in the case. He had come in contact with Dawre while in SIMI.

SUHAIL MEHMUD SHAIKH:

An accused in the 7/11 case, he hails from Camp area of Pune. He is in jail and facing trial in the case. He had come in contact with Daware while he was a member of SIMI.

ANWAR ALI:

Anwar Ali is an accused in the March 13, 2003 Mulund train blasts. He used to teach at the Khadakvasla-based National Defence Academy. The triple postgraduate he was planning to do his doctorate at the Pune University. He was booked under POTA and the trial of the case is on. He taught Urdu and Arabic at the NDA on a part-time basis to cadets.

DR ANWAR ALI BHAGWAN:

Dr Anwar Ali Bhagwan originally hails from Rahuri in Ahmednagar district but he has done his MBBS from BJ Medical College at Pune. He was arrested by the Mumbai Crime Branch in 2008 for being a significant member of the network of Indian Mujahideen. He has helped the group of IM members procure two safehouses in Pune – at Kamaldeep Park and Ashoka Mews. He has also allegedly taught the IM members how to administer anesthetic injections. Dr Bhagwan was also in touch with IT expert Mohammed Mansoor Asgar Peerbuoy and taught him how to use syringes.

ASGAR PEERBUOY:

An IT expert, Mohammed Mansoor Asgar Peerbuoy, was one of the key members of IM. Peerbhoy alias Munawar alias Mannu (31), Mubin alias Salman Kadar Shaikh (24), Asif Bashir Shaikh alias Hasan alias Mehmood (22) and Mohammed Akbar Ismail Chaudhary alias Sayed alias Yakub (28). They were arrested on September 28, 2008. While Peerbhoy was working as principal software engineer with a multinational company earning a fat pay packet of Rs 19 lakh, Salman was employed as a senior technical support advisor with a leading IT firm, Asif is a mechanical engineer and Yakub was a driver and a computer mechanic. They comprised the Pune group of Indian Mujahideen. Peerbhoy, Salman and Asif were sent by the IM for a training in Hyderabad in May 2007 to attend a course in hacking by spending Rs 70,000. They were indoctrinated by Roshan Khan alias Riyaz Bhatkal, the founder of IM, currently holed up in Pakistan. For nearly months, these three techies along with the driver, came to Mumbai from Pune and did a recce to find the suitable WiFi networks and visited places like Sanpada, Chembur, Sion and Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus. The three youth from Pune used to send lot of time to prepare the e-mails. Riyaz Bhatkal used to coordinate with Mohammed Saddik and used to dictate the contents to Asif, who later along with Mubin prepared the rough draft, which used to go to Peerbhoy, who then read out and confirmed the final draft with Riyaz, the mastermind. They used to refer a lot of books and do some cut and paste job from internet.
