PUNE: At least three more new trains between Pune and Mumbai, increase in frequency of local trains to Lonavla, Automatic Vending Machines for platform tickets at railway stations in Pune top the Mahratta Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA)'s pre-budget wishlist that the Chamber submitted to the Railway Ministry recently.

The pre-Railway Budget memorandum for 2010-11 prepared by MCCIA's Railway, Road Traffic Management (RRTM) Committee has underlined the additional railway networking and services for Pune which it says has been a vital business and cultural hub in India. The Chamber has demanded three trains to and from Mumbai including two in morning hours -at 10.15 am and 11.30 am and one at 7.30 pm. The Committee underlines that a large number of passengers who travel daily between Pune and Mumbai have no train service available during these hours.

Diversion of Pune-Mumbai-Pune trains from Karjat-Panvel section with the view to reduce the pressure on existing Karjat-Kurla section and halts for Intercity Express and Indrayani Express at Shivajinagar station are among other major demands being raised by the MCCIA with Railway Ministry.

MCCIA has  also suggested laying down of third track between Pune and Lonavla considering the present and future requirements of region.RRTM comiittee Chairman Chandmal Parmar in a communique said that demands raised reflect the needs of commuters from Pune region as well as that of other migrating population.
