Pune: With over 100 to 150 number of property missing (wallets, mobiles, documents etc) complaints received by the city police on a daily basis, officials of the city police will launch a new initiative, which will help people to file their missing property report online, through the Pune police website.

While addressing a press conference at the police commissionerate office in Camp, Deputy Commissioner of Police Sudhir Hiremath said that the new portal named as ‘Lost and found section’ will help people in submitting information of their missing property.

At the same time, people who have found a missing property can submit the details on the portal, thus helping the one whose property is missing.

The portal has been developed by cyber experts Pankajj Ghode, Aviraj Marathe and Pranit Kumar. “People who have lost their documents like Aadhaar, PAN, Licence, mobile phone, educational documents and other items, can report to the police through the portal. The missing information will also be sent to nearest police station and the crime branch, so that police can keep a track of it,” Hiremath added.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Pankaj Dahane said that an e-mail will be sent to the person once he submits the form of lost property. “The e-mail will be accepted as a proof that you have lodged a missing complaint to the police,” added Dahane.

Cyber expert Pankaj Ghode said that people need to have their mobile number and Aadhaar number with them while filling the form of lost property. The police need the mobile number and Aadhaar number for verification of the person. “Once the property is found by the police, a message will be sent to the owner of the property who has filed a missing complaint,” added Ghode. The portal (https://punepolice.co.in/lost-found) will be functional from Monday.
