PUNE: In order to prepare a complete voters’ list before the assembly as well as general elections to be held next year, the election branch of Pune district collectorate has started updating its voters’ list and has appealed the citizens to submit photos and changed information of their residence.
The election branch started working on updating the voters’ list from April 1. Those who are not in the list need to fill the forms to register themselves.
The district administration has appealed to the citizens in 21 assembly constituencies of Pune district to update their information and submit their photos at the election centers of the district administration.
According to the district administration, citizens can check their names in voters' lists on the website (www.ceo.maharashtra.gov.in). If they do not find their names in the lists, they need to submit form number six at the voting centers along with photo copies of their address proof, identity cards and photos.
Before coming to the voting centre to submit the photos, voters can check their names in the voting list and get the part number, in which their names have been registered.
Individuals who have completed 18 years and those who have not registered their names so far in the voters’ list, can submit form number six at the voting centers.
However, since April 1, a total of 15,80,170 citizens have updated their information with the election commission and as many as 33,656 voters have submitted their photos, while only six voters have submitted form number six.
Speaking to Sakal Times, deputy collector Milind Pathak said that the district administration has appointed electoral registration officers at all 21 assembly constituencies to look after voters registration and update the voters list information. Even booth level officers are engaged in the same work to prepare updated voters’ lists.
To check names in the voters’ lists, log on to www.ceo.maharashtra.gov.in. Click on the search engine provided by the website in English or Marathi. While using the search engine, voters will have to fill up the information like district, the assembly constituency they belong to and the surname and name of the voter, along with sex and age.
