EBC income limit hiked to Rs1 lakh

PUNE: The State government has revised the annual income limit for Economically Backward Class (EBC) from Rs 15,000 to Rs 1 lakh to enable their children avail concessions in educational fees.


The State cabinet approved the revision in its meeting on Wednesday.


Higher and technical education minister Rajesh Tope had made a formal announcement about this issue on the floor of the House during the Budget session of the State Legislature.


“As many as 8,21,588 students will benefit from the revision. A financial burden of Rs 8.93 crore will have to be incurred by the state exchequer annually,” an official release said on Wednesday. Started in 1959-60, the facility also offers concessions in library and laboratory charges, among other heads.

The limit of concession should increase for the child of single parent.Please ask them not to wait for election to pass this agenda.

last year in april concerning minister of maharashtra govt.had given assurance for increasing in limit of ebc for higher and technical education from current limit Rs.1 lac to Rs 4.5 lac since more then year completed students and parents are awaiting minister's announcement in this regard. kindly takeup this matter.
