PIMPRI: The Shiv Sena on Wednesday questioned the Pimpri Chinchwad New Towship Development Authority (PCNTDA) Rs 600 crore estimated Pune International Exhibition and Convention Centre at Moshi, saying it did not fit into its brief of developing residential plots, tenements and civic infrastructure.

Filing its objection to the suggestions and objections sought against the changes made to the Development Plan for the project, Shiv Sena has said that PCNTDA's major objective were to build residential tenements and allocate residential plots on a 99-year lease basis.

“Nowhere has the PCNTDA been asked to build commercial complexes or development industrial infrastructure. That work has been assigned to a specialist entity — the Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation,” Shiv Sena has stated.

The PCNTDA land cannot be made available for industrial or commercial purpose. For this purpose, the Pune Industrial Exhibition Centre should seek appropriate location within the MIDC zone, the Sena said in objections filed by its leaders including MP Gajanan Babar and Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation corporator Seema Sawale.

Sawale said that the first priority of PCNTDA should have been allocating the promised 12.5 per cent of alternative land to those whose lands were acquired to build the township.
