PUNE: Auto major General Motors (GM) India has registered a growth of 34 per cent in sales in August this year as compared to the corresponding period last year.
It sold 7,941 units during the same month as against 5,939 units in August last year. The August sales comprised 2,481 units of the Chevrolet Spark 2,475 units of Chevrolet Beat, 1438 units of the Chevrolet Travera, 724 units of the Chevrolet Cruze, 325 units of Chevrolet Aveo, 240 units of Chevrolet Aveo U-VA, 176 units of the Chevrolet Captiva and 82 units of Chevrolet Optra.
Interacting with the media at the plant site at Chakan, near here, GM vice-president (Corporate Affairs) P Balendran said, “Introduction of best-in-segment cars from the 300 series, increase in customer outreach through distribution network, our unique value proposition like Chevrolet Cashless Ownership offer and our promise to deliver quality and performance are the factors that have led to the impressive sales.”
The increase in the sales was primarily driven by the response to Beat, Cruze and Spark. Beat and Cruze have become industry benchmarks in their respective segments and a winner among consumers in India because of their design, performance and other product attributes.
Spark continues to register impressive sales, clearly validating it as one of the most sought after car in its segment in terms of styling, performance and fuel efficiency offering a value for money proposition. Other car lines have also registered impressive growth in the same month, he added.
Balendran said Chevrolet recently completed seven years of its successful journey after its foray into the Indian market.
With a wide array of products and services, Chevrolet has brought product quality and performance to Indian consumers. “The company has also ramped up production by adding the second shifts at Talegaon and Halol plants to meet the increased demand of its products. It is also rapidly expanding its sales and service network,” he added.
