PUNE: Members of the Pune Bar Association vandalised the canteen in the premises of Shivajinagar district and sessions court on Monday over substandard food served by the canteen-owner.

District Judge Madan Joshi directed Court Employees’ Union and Pune Bar Association (PBA) to resolve the issue through mutual dialogue.

The Shivajinagar district court has four canteens. This dispute is between the proprietor of the canteen near the main building, run by Agrawal Brothers and some of the lawyers.  Claiming this as an insult to lawyers, some of them removed the signboard, broke glass jars and threw eatables demanding the canteen be shut till the issue was resolved. District Judge Joshi immediately made a spot visit, when the association submitted a memorandum to him. The matter is to discussed on Friday. PBA phas demanded that one of the canteens be given to them to be run.
