UoP senate, council polls on Aug 31

PUNE: Elections to the senate of the University of Pune will be held on August 31 as per the 25th amendment to the Maharashtra University Act.

 

Some candidates have been elected unopposed to the Senate and the academic council of the university.

 

Candidates elected to the reserved seats for women from the principals' constituency are Shobha Ingwale from Shri Shahu Mandir College and Vidya Pandurang from Pravara Gramin Shikshanshastra College. Pandurang Gaikwad from Annasaheb Avate College, Manchar, was elected to the seat reserved for Scheduled Castes candidate.

 

Sunanada Navale from Sinhagad Technical Education Society and Sunanda Pawar from Agricultural Development Trust, Baramati, were elected to the reserved seat for women by  representatives of managements of recognised institutes.

 

Ashok Sawant from Godavari Shikshan Mandal, Nashik was elected from this constituency to the senate's seat reserved for other backward classes.

 

College principals elected from the open category to the academic council are Vishwas Gaikwad from KTHM College, Nashik, Manohar Chaskar from Baburao Gholap College, Kishore  Jain from Sinhagad College of Pharmacy, Dilip Shah from Raisoni College of Engineering and Management and Shivanand Chindha Hale from Arts and Commerce College, Yeola.

 

Women candidates elected from the principals' constituency are Suchita Kochargaonkar from Bhosla Military College and Sampada Joshi  from Sinhagad. 

 

OTHERS ELECTED

Ramesh Suryavanshi from Arts and Commerce College, Valchandnagar, was elected from Other Backward Class seat. Candidates from open category are Ravindra Deshpande and Dr Vasant Pawar.
