MCCIA and Indo-Russian Chamber of Commerce sign MoU to exchange information on potential suppliers
PUNE: Many city-based industries now have an opportunity to widen their horizon and get a foothold in the international market by partnering with Russian companies, especially in the Defence sector.
The Mahratta Chamber of Commerce Industries and Agriculture (MCCIA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indo-Russian Chamber of Commerce (IRCC) based in Delhi, to facilitate exchange of information about the availability of potential suppliers amongst Pune industries, including those engaged with Defence sector.
“Under the MoU, both Chambers will exchange information on regular basis regarding interesting business inquiries about various sectors, with particular reference to Defence offset,” MCCIA’s Defence Committee chairman Brig (Retd) S B Ghorpade told Sakal Times. Both the Chambers will facilitate business contacts amongst the member companies, desirous to participate.
Both will collaborate in the organising of business missions, seminars, workshops and any other promotional activity, which can facilitate business relations between Russia and Pune.
In order to carry out these activities, MCCIA and IRCC will identify among its staff, a designated coordinator, who will be interacting on a regular basis for exchange of information and assistance.
“MCCIA will make available the executive director general to represent the MCCIA as the contact person for IRCC in Pune. All possible assistance will be given to IRCC in organising joint events for all Pune-based companies interested in developing business with Russian companies,” Brig Ghorpade said.
In return, IRCC will make available its deputy secretary general to represent as contact point for MCCIA in Delhi.
The IRCC secretary general will represent the Chamber for Defence related matters in Delhi.
“All possible assistance will be provided to MCCIA in organising events for all Delhi-based companies, interested in developing business with Russia. The agreement is valid till two years,” vice-chairman of the committee, Air Vice Marshal (Retd) R D Limaye said.
