Hospitals told to be prepared for swine flu

Warning in wake of forthcoming monsoon

 

PIMPRI: Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Commissioner Asheesh Sharma has asked all municipal and private hospitals to be prepared to prevent resurgence of the H1N1 virus during the forthcoming monsoon season.

 

The municipal commissioner held a meeting at Yashanwantrao Chavan memorial hospital in Pimpri on Wednesday to review the preparedness to tackle swine flu cases in the city.

 

The meeting was attended by municipal chief medical and health officer Dr Nagkumar Kunachagi, medical director Dr Rajshekhar Iyer, other medical officers and representatives of private hospitals in Pimpri Chinchwad.

 

Sharma has asked the private hospitals to maintain an independent machinery  and equipments to prevent spread of the H1N1 virus during the rainy season.

 

Dr Iyer briefed the gathering about various measures taken by the civic body since August 2009 to prevent spread of swine flu.

 

More than 200 people have fallen victim to the deadly virus in the city after it broke out last year.
