PUNE: Unperturbed by the out of turn announcement by minister of state for home Ramesh Bagwe about his transfer, Police Commissioner Satya Pal Singh on Tuesday evening claimed that law and order situation in the city was under control and crime rate was low.

Bagwe, who recently had a public outburst over being neglected by the city police, in a discussion in  the state legislative council on Tuesday announced that city Police Commissioner  Satya Pal Singh will be transferred in view of growing incidences of crime in Pune.

When contacted, Singh denied to comment on Bagwe's announcement.

Singh said, “I am unaware of what happened in the assembly. I am doing my duty. I will continue to be Police Commissioner till I receive transfer orders.”

On criticism over high crime rate in the city, he said, “Though crimes of serious nature have happened in the city in the past, all places in the state do register such crimes.”

The Police Commissioner  added “In fact, crime rate in the city is low and law and order situation is under control. Traffic situation has improved in my tenure. I took decisions that were good for the people.”
