MUMBAI: The ailing national carrier Air India has made a part payment of Rs 25.6-lakh out of its Rs 1.16 -crore dues to the Nagpur Airport operator Mihan India. Air India had accumulated dues of Rs 1.16 crore by way of landing and parking charges for the October 2009-January 2010 period.

"Air India has not paid us our dues amounting to Rs 1.16 crore for the October-January period. I wrote to its chairman Arvind Jadhav saying unless the dues are paid, we would be constrained to stop its operations from the airport," Mihan chairman RC Sinha told PTI here today.

Following this "Air India has now paid us Rs 25.6 lakh," he added. Mihan India is a joint venture between Maharashtra Airports Development Corporation (MADC) and the Airports Authority of India, in which MADC owns a 51 per cent stake with the balance being held by AAI. Air India had the highest amount of dues pending amongst carriers operating from the Nagpur Airport, he said. While private airlines like Kingfisher Airlines, IndiGo and Jet Airways also have dues, it was marginal and the delays not so long, Sinha said.
