Attacks on media persons to be non-bailable offence in Maha

MUMBAI: Maharashtra Government would soon come up with an ordinance making attacks on media persons a non-bailable offence. "The Home Department is preparing a draft for the ordinance and the proposal would be sent to cabinet for approval," an official from Home Department said. A meeting in this regard was held at Mantralaya today chaired by Home Minister R R Patil. The meeting also proposed that a separate body on the lines of Press Council of India could be set up to address grievances of the media people at the state level," the official said. |
