NAGPUR: Vidarbha Janandolan Samiti, an NGO engaged in the welfare of farmers in the region, has decided to join the sit-in agitation for separate Vidarbha by former Union Minister and Congress MP Vilas Muttemwar on January 3.
“The Samiti will whole heartedly extend its support to the cause of creation of separate Vidarbha”, Samiti President Kishore Tiwari, said in a release Friday.
He said some political parties are talking about martyrdom of ‘samyukta Maharashtra movement’ where as nearly 7,000 farmers from Vidarbha region have ended their lives because of multiple problems including lack of sufficient irrigation facilities.
Samiti members in large number will join the January 3 dharna agitation to press the demand for separate state of Vidarbha, he said.
