AMRAVATI:  Pune clinched the general championship at the Maharashtra State Malkhamb competition that concluded on Tuesday, dethroning defending champions Mumbai Sub division and Mumbai City to second and third place.

National champion Rajesh Amrale of Mumbai Sub division and Arti Kolhapure of Satara emerged as the best players of the meet held at Hanuman Vyayam Prasarak Mandal here.

Pune district won the general championship with 409.60 points, pushing the defending champions Mumbai Sub division to the second spot with 401.90 points. Mumbai City bagged the third position with 387.06 points.

Amrale won two gold and as many bronze medals in the individual events while Kolhapure bagged one gold medal.
