Mumbai: Maharashtra's leading fishermen union leader Damodar Tandel on Sunday claimed that he has tipped off the government and authorities that there are possibilities that terrorists would use sea routes to land RDX in Mumbai – and that underworld elements could be involved in the operation.
"However, no action was taken," Tandel, the President of Maharashtra Macchimar Kruti Samiti told 'Sakaal Times'. He said that he got the information from a senior fishermen leader from Gujarat, Devabhai Bhagat - and accordingly passed it on the government. He also said that nearly 850 of 950 trawlers that arrive here from Gujarat are illegal – and several of the 'khalasis' (workers) are Bangladeshis.
