It won’t be an exaggeration if I describe the Suzuki Hayabusa as the face of superbikes in global market. Suzuki’s flagship and probably the most regarded superbike, the Hayabusa recently underwent a cosmetic surgery. The facelift has added more appeal to the big bike.

The big fuel tank makes its presence felt and adds muscle value to the look. It provides nice counters for the riders legs who accommodates himself in a front-leaned position. Integrated front turn signals form the outer edges of the ram-air-intake scoop. Vertically stacked headlight featuring a projector high beam and a halogen-bulb multi-reflector low beam complete the front end of Hayabusa. Unique tail section features streamlined bulges carry integrated rear turn signals to envelope the rear end of the bike. The instrument panel gets more illuminations thanks to the gizmos Hayabusa offers to pamper the rider now. Bright, durable LED taillight, with clear inner lens and red outer lens is definitely exciting. Four analog gauges including step-motor-driven tachometer and speedometer accompanied with round LCD panel includes clock, gear position indicator, S-DMS map indicator, odometer and dual trip meters look great. Engine-rpm indicator, programmable to blink or stay on between 4,000 and 11,500 rpm is a unique feature.

Power comes from a 1340cc, four cylinder DOHC motor with chrome-nitride physical vapour deposition coating on the upper compression and oil control piston rings to improve cylinder sealing. The U-shaped cutouts in cylinder-bore sides allow air below the descending pistons to escape to adjacent cylinders. It reduces internal pumping pressure and mechanical power losses. Lightweight titanium valves enable the use of lighter valve springs and higher lift with accurate valve control. Iridium spark plugs produce more complete combustion. Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (S-DMS) enables the rider to choose from three different engine power characteristics according to personal taste and riding conditions. It offers enjoyment of top performance in a wide range of riding situations. Suzuki Clutch Assist System (SCAS) serves as back-torque-limiting system for smoother downshifts and also contributes to a lighter clutch pull. Optimised six-speed constant mesh transmission system ensures no lag in gear shift. Oil spray to the last three cogs reduces wear and mechanical noise and is a great help during highway cruising.

Hayabusa runs on three-spoke cast-aluminum-alloy wheels shod with 120/70R17 front and 190/50R17 rear radial tyres. The 310mm dual-floating-disc front brakes assisted with 260mm single-disc rear brake control the bike incredibly. Superbikes are in fashion now and there is no other bike that can challenge Hayabusa.
